TACLOBAN - CGR volunteers are on-the-ground to help rebuild homes destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan.

Haiyan was a category five storm, possessing winds of up to 235 miles per hour, killing more than 6,000 people and rendering 200,000 people homeless of the 4.1 million who were displaced.

Locals are still recovering from Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation in November 2013, as well as last year’s Typhoon Hagupit.

The first team of CGR Albertan volunteers have arrived in Tacloban to spend two weeks to help rebuild homes with donations received by caring Canadians.

Today they started putting up the top portion of house #1. The family that will move in to this house is a young family with 3 boys.

Thank you for responding to typhoon and disaster relief!
