Turkey- Syria Earthquake
2/6 4:17 am local time
Over 41,000 people have been killed and thousands more injured in a devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on Monday, February 6.
One of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in over a century, search and rescue teams still find bodies under the rubble and estimate that tens of thousands of residents will need immediate medical attention.
The 7.8 magnitude quake has had at least 1,206 recorded aftershocks, leaving many neighbourhoods and entire city blocks flattened.
CGR is working with local partners in Syria and Turkey to respond to critical needs. Within hours of the disaster, local partners began providing blankets, water bottles, food and other emergency supplies in impacted neighbourhoods.
In the coming months, CGR partners will continue to provide food, heating supplies, trauma counselling and more to thousands of displaced families.
Remember the thousands affected by the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria and the local search and rescue teams as they continue rescuing residents trapped under rubble.
