Venezuela Earthquake Response
June 24, 2026 — 6:04 p.m. local time

Two powerful earthquakes struck north-central Venezuela on Wednesday, June 24. A magnitude 7.2 earthquake was followed only 39 seconds later by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake, making this one of the strongest seismic events to affect Venezuela in more than a century.

As of June 25, nearly 190 people had reportedly been killed and approximately 1,500 injured. Thousands remain unaccounted for as search-and-rescue operations continue. These figures may rise as emergency teams reach additional affected communities.

Homes, businesses, and public infrastructure have been damaged across several states, with serious impacts reported in La Guaira, Greater Caracas, and surrounding areas. Power, telecommunications, transportation, and essential healthcare services have also been disrupted.

Strong aftershocks continue to create additional risks for affected families, medical personnel, and rescue teams working in damaged areas.

Urgent Humanitarian Needs
The most immediate needs include:
Clean drinking water and food
Medical supplies and emergency healthcare assistance
Essential items for displaced families
Food, water, and equipment for rescue workers
Tools and supplies for local emergency response teams
Support for hospitals and community medical assistance points
Emotional and psychological support for children, families, and individuals affected by the earthquake
